Time for Congress to Create Jobs, Pass a Simpler, Fairer Tax Code - Not Higher Taxes

(Washington, DC) - Log Cabin Republicans support H.R. 8, the Job Protection and Recession Prevention Act, blocking scheduled tax increases at the end of the year by extending current income tax rates for one year.

"Log Cabin Republicans, like all conservatives, are committed to lower taxes and a fairer tax code as part of our commitment to greater liberty and stimulating economic growth," said R. Clarke Cooper, Executive Director of Log Cabin Republicans. "Chairman Camp's legislation is the clear alternative to President Obama's reckless plan to hike up taxes at the end of this year, and sets the stage for passing a comprehensive tax reform that is fairer and simpler. If the Democrats have their way, 700,000 American jobs will be lost, delivering yet another body blow to an already struggling economy. Higher taxes aren't a solution. They're part of the problem."
