About Georgia Log Cabin Republicans

Georgia Log Cabin Republicans invites you to join us today in our fight for the future of the Republican Party.

Log Cabin Republicans is the nation's largest organization of conservative gays & lesbians. We support fairness, freedom & equality for all Americans. Log Cabin has state & local chapters nationwide, full-time offices in Washington, DC & a federal political action committee. We are part of the next generation of Republican Party where liberty & Americans are at the forefront.

Our History

Log Cabin was founded in 1978 to battle the nation's first anti-gay ballot measure, California's Proposition 6 known as "The Briggs Initiative", which would have made it legal to dismiss gay or lesbian public school teachers solely based on their sexual orientation. The gay Republican opposition in Los Angeles came to refer to itself as the Log Cabin Club in reference to Abraham Lincoln and the heritage of the Republican Party. These first Log Cabin activists enlisted Ronald Reagan to publicly oppose the California measure, which was then defeated. Log Cabin Republicans have grown to become a leading voice on the national stage on behalf of the mainstream concerns of the gay & lesbian community.

Georgia Log Cabin began in 2003 and has since provided a multitude of opportunities for its members and the community at large to participate in its events and to learn about its mission.

Our Mission

Georgia Log Cabin's mission is threefold; 1) To educate, communicate, and work with the Republican Party regarding concerns and issues facing the gay and lesbian community; 2) To provide a haven and voice for gay conservatives which grants mutual understanding and support; 3) To inform the general public about gay conservatives and their beliefs, values, and goals.

Our Values and Beliefs

We believe in freedom of expression, importance of differing perspectives and viewpoints, the ability to respectfully disagree, and the right to our own opinions and thoughts.  We strive to build trust with political leaders (including within the GOP), augment those who support our mission, and stand against anti-gay or exclusionary actions by members of any party.

Our Primary Exempt Purpose

To encourage conservative values in the LGB community.
