(Washington, DC) – "Log Cabin Republicans applaud the ruling in Louisiana this week, by a Republican state court judge, finding Louisiana's anti-family amendment banning any recognition for gay and lesbian couples unconstitutional. Log Cabin Republicans are proud that our Louisiana chapter, along with Forum for Equality PAC, brought this challenge.

"The Louisiana amendment ballot question, in violation of the Louisiana Constitution, asked voters to approve an amendment that sought to deal with multiple issues. The Constitution in Louisiana requires that an amendment address only one issue. The proponents of this anti-family amendment used a classic Trojan horse strategy by seeking to ban civil unions, domestic partnerships, common law marriage, and the granting of the legal incidents of marriage under the guise of simply banning same-sex civil marriage."
